How we work

Facts sourced. Analysis labelled.

Neutrality does not require passivity. It requires consistent standards for evidence, language and accountability.

Content classifications

Factual report

A report of confirmed events, documents, figures or attributed statements. Material assertions link to a primary or authoritative source. Descriptions such as “transformative” remain attributed claims rather than established facts.

Analysis

Interpretation, comparison or a conclusion reached by hants.online. Analysis is labelled on listings and articles. Its factual premises are cited, and uncertainty is stated where evidence is incomplete.

Source hierarchy

We prefer legislation and Parliamentary records, followed by government publications, official council records, audited documents and recognised public datasets. Secondary reporting may identify an issue but should not be the sole support for a consequential claim when a primary source exists.

Use of artificial intelligence

We use AI to support research, summarisation, drafting and the neutralisation of loaded or promotional language. AI output is not evidence, and responsibility for checking, publishing and correcting content remains with hants.online.

Read our full artificial intelligence policy.

Postcode results

The checker uses postcodes.io geography and applies the published Option 1A parish exceptions. It is an informational aid, not a legal boundary determination. Results remain provisional until the relevant Structural Change Order is approved.

Corrections

Material factual errors will be corrected promptly. Where a correction changes the meaning of an article, a dated correction note will be added rather than silently replacing the record.

Stay accountable

Follow the decisions, not the spin.

Occasional, sourced updates as Hampshire’s new councils take shape.
